Generally, they can be easily ground. A triple roller mill is wet grinding equipment commonly used for grinding and dispersing high-viscosity materials. Its rollers are made of chilled alloy cast iron by centrifugal casting. The grinding effect is achieved by friction at different speeds. A triple roller mill is one of the most effective grindings and dispersing equipment for high-viscosity materials. When working, the operator can adjust the fast and slow rollers to the appropriate position, then start the machine, and then put the required rollers. The ground slurry is added to the copper knife between the middle roll and the slow roll. After the slurry is squeezed on the surface of the middle and slow rolls, it is brought to the fast roll by the middle roll, and then scraped off by the discharge scraper close to the surface. Through the knife plate equipped with the baffle plate, it flows into the bucket, which constitutes the entire grinding process.
Grinding of high viscosity materials – silicone rubber
The triple roller mill, which is generally used to grind silicone rubber, needs to meet its heating conditions. The production of silicone rubber mainly goes through the kneading and mixing process of silicone polymers and fillers. The operation of kneading and mixing, not only the simple mixing of materials but also the extrusion and shearing of materials during the kneading process, actually promotes the penetration of fillers and polymers. Reinforcement can only be achieved if the filler is uniformly dispersed in the polymer. During the heating and grinding process of the triple roller mill, the high-consistency material has a strong shearing effect and high mixing efficiency.
For the mixture of the low filler ratio system, it cannot form the extrusion resistance, that is, when the triple roller mill grinds too low viscosity materials, it cannot effectively generate frictional shear, which will easily affect the reinforcement effect. Therefore, even if the filling ratio of the silicone rubber material is low, it is better to go through the grinding of the high-viscosity viscous material first, and then add the polymer to dilute to the predetermined low filling ratio.
The silicone rubber material is directly applied to the paste kneaded at room temperature. Silicone rubber may not flow well. Heat the paste appropriately. The low molecular weight in the compound is equivalent to a modified treatment agent, which can improve the penetration of the polymer and filler surface, reduce the viscosity of the adhesive, and improve the mechanical properties of the vulcanizate.
The silicone rubber process is not advisable. Due to prolonged high-speed shearing of the silicone polymer, some silicone polymer chains may be sheared. Although the viscosity of silicone rubber is thin, the mechanical properties of the vulcanizate are significantly reduced. Also, when the silicone rubber is thinned through the triple roller mill, it is necessary to control the appropriate roll distance to ensure the shearing and kneading effect and avoid cutting the silicone polymer chain.
