Three roll mill structure and how it works
Three roll mill is one of the most common pulp grinding devices. It is mainly composed of rollers, material stoppers, distance adjustment devices, feeding devices, transmission devices, and rack.
The rollers of the three roll mill are the places where the material is cut and squeezed. The baffle (copper baffle) is located between the middle and slow rollers. The position of the copper baffle can be adjusted by the screw to prevent material from entering the bearings at both ends of the rollers when feeding. The function of the distance adjustment device is to adjust the distance between rollers and the compression force and to change the shearing and extrusion of materials to meet the grinding requirements. The discharging device (scraper blade) is made of a steel plate and sticks to the surface of the quick roll to scrape off the slurry on the surface of the roll.
To facilitate scraping off the slurry on the surface of the quick roll, the cutter position should be set higher than the axis of the roll. The drive unit is composed of a motor, decelerator, coupling, and speed ratio gear. Its function is to provide the required torque and speed for each roller. The motor is driven by a triangular belt, and after passing through the decelerator, the coupling directly passes into the medium-speed roll, then the speed ratio gear drives the fast and slow rolls to rotate in the same direction. Usually, the speed ratio of three rollers is 1:3:9. The rack is a supporting part of rollers, distance adjustment devices, etc.
